Chief Elder Communion

Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, November 8, at 11:00 am, as Moravians worldwide gather to remember that Jesus Christ is Chief Elder of our church. On this day we celebrate Christ’s leadership of our Church, and of each of us. It is a time to renew our loyalty to our Savior by sharing the sacramental meal He first offered. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Crews, our guest preacher, will serve communion.

Thanksgiving Lovefeast

On Sunday, November 22, we will partake of a traditional Moravian lovefeast in celebration of Thanksgiving. As we gather to worship, we have an opportunity to share our blessings with others. We will collect canned goods and other non-perishable items for the CCM food bank. Please be generous!

The Hanging of the Greens

Sunday, November 29, is the First Sunday in Advent and we will prepare our hearts and our sanctuary with a Hanging of the Greens service. Together we will pray the Advent Liturgy, sing “Hosanna,” light the Advent star and the first candle on the Advent wreath, and decorate the sanctuary with greenery.

Some decorations will be in place as the worship service begins; some will be added by members of the congregation as the service progresses. The traditions and symbolism of the decorations will be explained as together we beautify the sanctuary. Special music, hymns, and Scripture readings will complete the service. Volunteers are needed, both readers and decorators. If you are interested in assisting with this special service, please speak to Pastor Bob or Sara Peterson.
